Topological Gauge Theory and Twistors
By use of harmonic superfields, Witten’s topological gauge theory is written as a field theory on a supertwistor space. Further, using the realisation of complex compactified Minkowski space as a quadric in CP , we show that the theory has a simple formulation in terms of analytic superfields on super-CP 5 ×CP . متن کاملGauge theory of topological phases of matter
We study the response of quantum many-body systems to coupling some of their degrees of freedom to external gauge fields. This serves to understand the current Green functions and transport properties of interacting many-body systems. Our analysis leads to a “gauge theory of states of matter” complementary to the well-known Landau theory of order parameters. We illustrate the power of our appro...
متن کاملTopological resolution of gauge theory singularities
Some gauge theories with Coulomb branches exhibit singularities in perturbation theory, which are usually resolved by nonperturbative physics. In string theory this corresponds to the resolution of timelike singularities near the core of orientifold planes by effects from F or M theory. We propose a new mechanism for resolving Coulomb branch singularities in three dimensional gauge theories, ba...
متن کاملGauge field theory coherent states (GCS): I. General properties
In this paper we outline a rather general construction of diffeomorphism covariant coherent states for quantum gauge theories. By this we mean states ψ(A,E), labelled by a point (A,E) in the classical phase space, consisting of canonically conjugate pairs of connectionsA and electric fieldsE, respectively, such that: (a) they are eigenstates of a corresponding annihilation operator which is a g...
متن کاملTopological susceptibility in SU(3) gauge theory.
We compute the topological susceptibility for the SU(3) Yang-Mills theory by employing the expression of the topological charge density operator suggested by Neuberger's fermions. In the continuum limit we find r(4)(0)chi = 0.059(3), which corresponds to chi = (191 +/- 5 MeV)(4) if F(K) is used to set the scale. Our result supports the Witten-Veneziano explanation for the large mass of the eta(').
